MOUNT VERNON — Max G. Winters, 76, of Mount Vernon, died May 25, 2012, at the Ohio Eastern Star Home in Mount Vernon.

He was born Oct. 17, 1935, in Summit Station to Bernald and Mary Emma (Daugherty) Winters. Max was a graduate of Summit High School in 1954. He retired from Southeastern Correctional Facility in Circleville and farmed. He was a member of the Circleville Church of Christ and Masonic Blue Lodge.

He is survived by children, Sheila Parmer and Melanie Foor, both of Whitehouse, Tenn., Dwayne Winters of Greenwood, Ark., and Vaughn Parmer of Bowling Green, Ky.; grandchildren, Julie Foor Carter, Gregory Foor, Christopher Winters and Trenton Howells; great-grandchildren, Aiden Tetterton, Alex Winters, and Jordan, Justin, Dody and Amelia Howells; and his Ohio Eastern Star Home family. He was preceded in death by daughter, Sharon Grewell.

Friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon. Private graveside services will be at Jefferson Cemetery in Blacklick.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ohio Eastern Star Home or Mid-Ohio Food Bank.
