HOWARD — Andrew Oblak, 81, of Lakeview Heights Drive, Howard, passed away Friday, June 1, 2012, at Mount Carmel St. Ann’s Hospital in Westerville.

He was born June 26, 1930, in Cleveland, to the late Andrew and Christina (Demshar) Oblak. Andrew served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean conflict. He retired from the U.S. Post Office and General Motors, both in Cleveland. Andrew was a member of the American Legion Post 343, Disabled American Veterans, SNPJ Slovenian National Benefit Society and Danville United Methodist Church. He enjoyed gardening, traveling and listening to music; but most important to him was the time he spent with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Eugenia (Hunyadi) Oblak; a son, Andrew Oblak of Howard; a daughter, Alisa (John) Dambrosio of Howard; two granddaughters, Diana Hochschild and Jacquelyn Dambrosio.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Christina Oblak and Mary Boltz.

A memorial service celebrating Andrew’s life will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Danville United Methodist Church, 408 Market St., Danville, where friends may call one hour prior. Pastor Mary Murtha will be officiating. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home of Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of Andrew Oblak.
