MOUNT VERNON — Atlee Dann Goodson, 91, of Mount Vernon, passed away Wednesday evening, June 6, 2012, at the Willow Brook Christian Home in Worthington.
He was born Jan. 29, 1921, in Bradford County, Pa. Dann was a longtime Mount Vernon resident and a faithful member of the First Presbyterian in Mount Vernon. He served his country in the U.S. Navy and was a proud veteran of World War II. Dann was employed in various capacities by the Cooper-Bessemer/Cooper Industries Corp., and retired in 1982 with 42 years of faithful service.
Dann shared his life with Mary Lou Zeisloft Goodson until her death in July 1976. Then he later married Harriett M. Walker Goodson.
Dann is survived by his sons, Gary L. Goodson and Dann P. (Deborah) Goodson; stepdaughter, Marilyn (Dwight) Walker Gibler; stepson, David (Mary) Walker; grandchildren, Dann L. Goodson, Charles F. Goodson, Hillary B. Goodson Pecsok, Jacob M. Goodson, Randy and Wendy Gibler, and three great-grandchildren.
Dann was a warm, loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His memory will live on in the hearts of many.
The family will receive friends from 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Mound View Cemetery, with the Rev. Jonathan Fettig officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 102 N. Gay St., Mount Vernon, OH 43050.
