PERRYSVILLE — Gloria Jean Weirick, 70, of Perrysville, died Friday afternoon, June 8, 2012, in Knox Community Hospital, Mount Vernon, following a five-week illness.

Gloria was born Oct. 7, 1941, in Monroe Township, the daughter of the late Clarence and Mabel (Grubaugh) Black. She was a 1959 graduate of Perrysville High School and Mansfield Beauty College. She operated Gloria Jean’s Beauty Nook in Perrysville for many years, and had also served as the sexton for Greenlawn Cemetery since 1987. She was a salesman for Thompson Memorials, Perrysville, for four years, and Ashland Monument Co. for over 20 years. Most recently she worked for McElwain Accounting, Loudonville. Gloria enjoyed crocheting, ceramics and painting in her spare time; but she was always an active member of her community, working with the Perrysville Fair, Perrysville Lions Club, Perrysville Fire Department Auxiliary, Loudonville FFA Alumni and the Northeast Ohio Pork Producers. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, McZena.

She is survived by her husband, John O. Weirick, whom she married Nov. 11, 1961; her son, Dale (Laura) Weirick of Danville; her daughter, Bonita (Warren) Owens of Fredericktown; four grandchildren, Leslie and Logan Weirick, and Wyatt and Trace Owens; and her three cousins whom her mother raised, Susan Stake of Loudonville, Julianne (Dana) Zody of Perrysville and Carol Beck of Loudonville.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Greenlawn Cemetery, Perrysville, with the Rev. Dennis Engler officiating. There will be no visitation; however, there will be a luncheon immediately following the graveside services at St. John Lutheran Church, McZena, 46 Ashland County Road 2575, Lakeville. The Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home, Loudonville, is honored to be serving the Weirick family with arrangements.
