BELLVILLE — Mrs. Patty Lee (Lowe) Leedy was born Dec. 13, 1936, in Parkersburg, W.Va. After growing up in the beautiful mountains of West Virginia, she graduated from Nitro High School and moved to Mansfield, Ohio, where she lived to be 75.
Patty was welcomed into Heaven on Thursday, June 7, 2012, by her Heavenly Father and Lord, along with her father, Herman Lowe; mother, Jennie Lowe; brother, Charles Lowe; sister, Evelyn (Lowe) Pratt; son, Phillip Leedy; great-grandson, Justice Jackson; and other dearly missed family members and friends.
Patty’s first calling was that of wife and mother, but she also worked outside the home at Hot Sam’s, Conley’s, Therm-O-Disc, Stuhldrehers and McDonald’s. She was a Christian woman and lifelong member of the Church of Christ. Having visited patients at nursing homes numerous times over the years, she was no stranger to them when she became a patient herself.
Her large pots of stew and delicious Christmas cookies will be missed, as well as her soft-spoken Southern charm and hospitality. She loved a great road trip — especially back home to West Virginia. She also loved to sing, draw, paint, solve puzzles, cook and bake.
Her astute wisdom, warm nurturing, and kind-hearted spirit will be missed, along with her humor, sparkling eyes, smile and wink. She often put others’ needs above her own — overly generous, self-sacrificing, sensitive, protective and dependable. She loved unconditionally and indiscriminatively, seeing the best in everyone. She was a friend to all- including her children, whom she never lectured, but led by example and with stories about her own life experiences.
Patty is enormously loved and missed by her husband, Eugene Richard Leedy (married July 31, 1954); sons, Mark Brandon Leedy, Paul Alan Leedy, Giorge Michael Leedy; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Jo (Leedy) Kiser and Morgan Kiser; granddaughters, Jolene and Michelle Kiser; brother, Hubert Newlon; sisters, Dolores (Lowe) Adkins, Dorothy (Lowe) Demars and Barbara (Lowe) Flannery; brothers-in-law, Greg Adkins, Rick Demars and Bruce Flannery; sisters-in-law, Mary Lowe and Lang Newlon; friend, Kay Jarrell; as well as many other family members and friends.
Patty’s life will be celebrated Saturday at the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home, where visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and her funeral beginning at 4 p.m. Burial will follow at Owl Creek Cemetery in Ankneytown.
