MOUNT VERNON — Linda Lou (Lanning) Fox passed away Monday, June 11, 2012, after an extended illness.

She was born in Knox County, on July 9, 1928. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Charles V. Fox; her father, Royal Lanning; her mother, Helen (Young) Lanning Buchanan; and brothers, Charles Ollie and Bernard Lanning.

“For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39, (KJV).

She is survived by her sons, William (Sherrie) Fox of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Dr. Ronald (Candace) Fox of Mount Vernon; daughters, Charlyn (Eric) Green of Lebanon, Pa., and Debra (Edward) Thomas of Statesville, N.C.; grandchildren, Laura Fox Vinson, Misti Fox Spires, Courtney Fox, Dayna Fox Fitch, Mandy Fox Campos, Melissa Fox Holmes, Bradford Fox, Matthew Fox, Ralph Thomas, Brian McCann, Eric McCann, Maggie McCann Hesson; 19 great-grandchildren; sisters, Annabelle Burgess of Mount Vernon, Loreene Lanning of Newark, Darlene (Harold) Layman of Port Angeles, Wash., and Louise Isaac of Westerville; and brother, James (Rachel) Cunningham of Columbus, Ga.

Linda attended the Lakeholm Church of the Nazarene. Over the years, her many talents of cooking, cross stitching, quilting, sewing, gardening and canning food brought joy into the lives of those who were recipients of her generosity. She especially enjoyed cooking on holidays and many delightful memories were made during those times.

A memorial service will be held Friday at 7 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, with the Rev. Jonathan Fettig officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home two hours before the memorial service. Inurnment will be at the convenience of the family at St. John’s Cemetery.

The family wishes to gratefully acknowledge their thanks to the staff at the Ohio Eastern Star Home as they cared for Linda during her illness. They also extend their thanks to the hospice staff during Linda’s final days.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 780 Park Ave. West, Mansfield, OH 44906.
