GAMBIER — Beatrice J. Steinmetz, 79, of New Castle Road, Gambier, passed away Friday, June 15, 2012, at her home with her family at her side.

She was born Jan. 25, 1933, in Mount Vernon to the late Cassie and Frances (Hoovler) Laymon. Beatrice was employed in retail sales at Sears and later Uhlmans here in Mount Vernon. She was a member of the Pine Street First Church of God. Beatrice and her husband enjoyed wintering in Florida. But most of all she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of over 61 years, Roy Steinmetz; two daughters, Janell (Tom) Reynolds of Howard, Jill (John) Shriver of Howard; her son, Criss (Debra) Steinmetz of Mount Vernon; eight grandchildren, Corey Sites, Clinton Baker, Troy Reynolds, Travis Reynolds, Tracey Zink, Derrick Steinmetz, Jordan Shriver, Jamison Shriver; and nine great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, Beatrice was preceded in death by her brother, Cassie Laymon Jr.

Friends may call Monday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Pine Street First Church of God, 10 Pine St., Mount Vernon. A service will follow beginning at 1 p.m., with Pastor Bill Fulda officiating. Burial will be held in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
