FOUNTAIN HILLS, Ariz. — Born on a small farm in Gambier, on March 23, 1912, William Stephen Rowley Jr. took advantage of his natural good cheer and people skills to eventually retire at the executive level from Carlisle Tire and Rubber Corp. in Carlisle, Pa. The career path he chose always was in the best interest of his wife and family. His full and accomplished life came to a peaceful close on June 19, 2012, at the Fountain View Village Skilled Nursing facility in Fountain Hills, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearlene Edith (Fuller) Rowley; and daughter-in-law, Ellen Rowley. He is survived by sons, Eric of Lewiston, Mich., Steve and daughter-in-law, Sharon, of Westerly, R.I., grandchildren, Jeff and wife, Cheryl, Jill and husband, Jeremy, Cheryl, Brenda, Dan; and five great-grandchildren.

His remains will be interred next to his wife at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Gambier, at a time yet to be determined. The family requests that any remembrance be in the form of a donation to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014.

He was loved by many, will be missed by many more, and will always be remembered as the ambassador of goodwill by all those he touched in his 100-plus years.
