MOUNT VERNON — Donald Eugene “Gene” Gray, 78, of Mount Vernon, passed away Friday afternoon, June 22, 2012, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, after a short illness.

He was born Nov. 7, 1933, in Olmstead County, Minn., son of the late Donald Kerkwood and Lydia Leona (Siewart) Gray. Gene retired from IBM and was the former owner of the Widow McCoy Restaurant and Lounge in Loveland, Colo., and the Galley Restaurant in Howard. He was an entertainer, sang and played the keyboard all his life.

Gene is survived by his wife of 27 years, Pamela (Whitney) Gray; his children, Barry Gray, Jann Theilgaard, Vance Gray, Zane Gray, all of Colorado; and his stepchildren, Sarah Martin of Mount Vernon, Edith Thompson of Gambier and Zeb Martin of Columbus.

The family will have private services for Gene.
