MOUNT VERNON — James S. Fawcett, 60, of Mount Vernon, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, June 23, 2012, at Knox Community Hospital.

He was born May 23, 1952, in Mount Vernon to James W. and Bette Lou (Hall) Fawcett. James was an avid Harley-Davidson rider and enjoyed working on his and other motorcycles.

He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Lela (Williamson) Fawcett; his son, Jimbo (Rebecca) Fawcett of Walhonding; daughter, Beverly Gillespie of Columbus; mother, Bette Lou Snyder of Mount Vernon; a brother, Larry Fawcett of Mount Vernon; sisters, Helen Smith, Candy (John) Hunter, Louise Dill, all of Mount Vernon, and Tina Cousin; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; his close friends, Rodney (Mindy) Farrell, Tom (Amy) Parker, Rick Martin and Dave Doup, all of Mount Vernon.

James was preceded in death by his father; and a grandson, Nicholas Gillespie.

Friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home, 212 N. Main St., Mount Vernon. Graveside funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Mound View Cemetery.
