MOUNT VERNON — Leonard F. Pikaart, 54, of North Sandusky Street, Mount Vernon, passed away Wednesday, July 4, 2012, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was born July 30, 1957, in Lexington, Va., to Leonard and Constance (Headapohl) Pikaart. Leonard served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He enjoyed writing poetry, fishing, riding his motorcycle and playing billiards with friends, but most important was the quality time he spent with his family.
He is survived by his mother, Constance (Anthony) DeBerardinis; his wife, Christine (Morris) Pikaart; his children, Leonard M. (Penny) Pikaart of Georgia, Leonard L. (Vanessa) Pikaart of Mount Vernon, Vernon F. (Alexandra) Pikaart of Mount Vernon and Constance Pikaart of Mount Vernon; three grandchildren, Adara Pikaart, Spencer Pikaart and Brian Pikaart; a brother, William (Nancy) Pikaart of Blacklick; two sisters, Lucinda (Vernon) Castle of Guysville and Lori (Dan) Brooks of Athens.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Friends may call Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, where a funeral service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. Burial with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council will follow in Millwood Cemetery. The Rev. Joe Noonen and Mr. Victor Slutz will be officiating.
