NEWARK — A funeral service for Roy Burchard Jr. will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Church of God of Licking County, 2181 Riggs Road NE, Newark, with Pastor Anthony Bartlett and Sherman Romine presiding. The family will receive friends and relatives from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday at Brucker-Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St., Newark. Interment will take place Monday at 9 a.m. in Wilson Cemetery.
Mr. Burchard, 78, passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at Arlington Care Center, Newark. He was a lifelong resident of Newark where he was born July 18, 1933, to his late parents, Roy and Leaflet Mae (Buchanan) Burchard Sr. Roy attended the Newark school system until 1951 He served with the Ohio National Guard from 1950-1953. He retired from Chattanooga Glass Co., Mount Vernon, in 1975. Roy attended Church of God of Licking County and did volunteer work at Licking Memorial Hospital.
Roy is survived by sisters, Janet (Tom) Charles of Norman, Ind., Martha (Kenneth) Barmore of Sellersburg, Ind., and Ruth (John) Quinn of Columbus, Ind.; nieces and nephews, David, Matthew, Joshua and Mark Quinn, Lisa Rocker and Rachael Conrad, Joyce Fish, Tom D. Charles Jr. and Timothy Charles; as well as longtime friends and confidant, Sheldon and Rhoda Yoder of Gambier.
