MOUNT VERNON — Wanda B. Garrety, 91, of Mount Vernon, passed away July 8, 2012, at the Ohio Eastern Star Home.

She was born Jan. 24, 1921, in Mount Vernon, and was the daughter of the late Allen M. and Mabel (Mills) Beinhower. Wanda was a member of the Mulberry Street United Methodist Church and a past volunteer for Interchurch Social Services. She also was a member of Knox Chapter 236, Order of Eastern Star.

Surviving are her daughter, Gretchen Garrety of Gurnee, Ill.; three grandsons, Nathan Mintier, Matthew Mintier, Gabriel Mintier; and two great-granddaughters, Alma and Zsofia.

Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, Clement Garrety in 1993; and a sister, Velma Beinhower.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Wanda will be held Thursday, July 19, at 11 a.m. in the chapel at the Ohio Eastern Star Home with Pastor Warren Outhewait officiating. Private family burial will be in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens. The Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home is handling the arrangements for the Garrety family.

Memorial contributions may be made in Wanda’s name to Mulberry Street United Methodist Church, 205 N. Mulberry St., Mount Vernon, OH 43050.
