MOUNT VERNON — Lawrence C. “Larry” DeGrange Jr., 87, of Mount Vernon, passed away Monday morning, July 16, 2012, at Emeritus at HillenVale in Mount Vernon.

He was born June 3, 1925, in Hagerstown, Md., son of the late Lawrence C. and Elizabeth (Kogelshotz) DeGrange Sr. Larry served his country in the Army during World War II and retired from the Ohio Department of Transportation. In his younger years, Larry played in the Tony Calamello Orchestra.

Larry is survived by a sister-in-law, Doris Oakes McCrory of Mount Vernon; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor “Patsy” (Oakes) DeGrange; sisters, Barbara Price and Audrey Ferguson; and brothers, Richard and Irvin DeGrange.

A funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, with Dr. Paul Dove officiating. Burial will follow in Mound View Cemetery, with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service on Friday.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Knox County, 17700 Coshocton Road, Mount Vernon, OH 43050.

The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon is honored to handle the services for Lawrence C. “Larry” DeGrange Jr.
