HOWARD — James Richard Hauger, 80, of Howard, died Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at the Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon.

He was born Oct. 27, 1931. in Knox County to the late Cash and Helen (LeFever) Hauger. He was employed at PPG and American National Can in Mount Vernon. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving during the Korean conflict. He was a member of the Gambier Fishing Club. He enjoyed Saturday night “Pizza Night” with his family, the Danville Fish Fries, and his trips to Wheeling.

He is survived by his children, Rich (Sandi) Hauger of Mount Vernon, Lou Ann Shultz of Danville, Tim Hauger (Donita Fausco) of Howard and Amy (Larry) Chandler of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, Cash and Cassandra Hauger, Ethan Shultz, and Max and Wes Chandler; and his granddog, Liza.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Evalyn M. (Conkle) Hauger, whom he married Sept. 23, 1956, she died June 3, 2008. He was also preceded in death by his son-in-law, Chuck Shultz; and two sisters, Juanita Laymon and Vivian Butler.

Graveside service will be held today at 1 p.m. in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, with Pastor Lee Cubie officiating.
