MOUNT VERNON — Frances Irene Sapp, 95, of Mount Vernon, died Sunday, July 22, 2012, at The Laurels of Mount Vernon. Frances was born April 14, 1917, in Knox County, to William and Sarah J. (Miller) Lahmon and spent her lifetime in Knox County and Mount Vernon.

She was a member of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program in Gambier for many years. She, along with her brother, William, would volunteer for card games at The Station Break Senior Citizens Center in Mount Vernon.

Frances is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Walter (Carole) Sapp of Mount Vernon; daughter-in-law, Jean (Carlton) Smith of Howard; a grandson, Marty (Julie) Sapp; three step-grandsons; one stepgranddaughter; one great-grandson, Michael Sapp; two stepgreat-grandsons; two stepgreat-granddaughters; her sister, Dorothy White of Mount Vernon; and sister-in-law, Susie Lahmon. Besides her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her previous husband, Robert W. Sapp; five brothers, Earl Lahmon, Harry Lahmon, Clarence Lahmon, William Lahmon and Ralph “Shorty” Lahmon; four sisters, Edna Woolison, Mabel Lahmon, Pearl Mills and Isabelle Hyatt; two stepgrandsons; one granddaughter.

Friends may call Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon, where funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, with Pastor Robert Pelfrey officiating. Burial will follow at the Union Grove Cemetery, near Gambier.
