MOUNT VERNON — Leona M. Larason, 88, of Mount Vernon, died Tuesday. July 24, 2012, at the Ohio Eastern Star Home in Mount Vernon.

Leona was born May 8, 1924, in Gambier to Paul and Sylvia (Laymon) Brown. She was a 1942 graduate of Gambier High School and had spent her lifetime in the Mount Vernon area. Leona had been employed in the accounting department of Cooper Energy Services in Mount Vernon for over 30 years, and was a member of the Gay Street United Methodist Church in Mount Vernon. Leona loved her family, and especially enjoyed times spent at family gatherings.

Surviving are her husband of 60 years, Leland Larason; nieces, Rhonda (Dale) Statler of Mount Vernon and Carol (Richard) Biggs of Howard; and her nephew, Mark (Barbara) Brown of Powell. Besides her parents, Leona was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Harriett Brown.

Friends may call Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon. A family graveside funeral service will be held in Mound View Cemetery, with the Rev. Denise Marikis officiating.
