MANSFIELD — John H. Pfeil, 97, of Mansfield, died July 30, 2012, in Ashland.

He was born May 25, 1915, in Cleveland, to Lawrence and Lena (Buddenburg) Pfeil. A U.S. Army veteran, John served in World War II. He worked with General Motors in Cleveland, transferred to and retired from the Ontario stamping plant.

Surviving are wife, Rose J. (Kozuh); children, Dr. Lawrence (Judi) Pfeil, Elaine Pfeil, Mary Ellen (Thomas) McGloin, Kathleen (Robert) Grove and Cynthia Timmer; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, William Pfeil; numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded by siblings, Dalin Cummings, Rita Birth, Nicholas Pfeil, Larry Pfeil, Raymond Pfeil.

Visitation Wednesday, 5 to 7 p.m., Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, where a Christian Prayer Service will be held at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Burial with military honors in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman.
