MANSFIELD — Evelyn Ruth Race, 93, of Mansfield, passed away Aug. 7, 2012, in Alterra Sterling House, following a short illness.

She was born April 1, 1919, in Bellville, to Walter and Mary Hazel (Teeter) Steltz. She worked as an assembler at Westinghouse, and was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church.

Surviving are brother-in-law, Bill Race of Mansfield; nieces and nephews, Ed and Vada Frailey of Bellville, Carol and Nolan Jackson of Salem, Va., Larry and Linda Race and Judith Donathon, all of Mansfield, Kathy Stecher and Henry Kevern, both of Mesa, Ariz.; several great-nieces and great-nephews; great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; and a great-great-great-niece.

On July 24, 1954, she married Joseph A. Race, who preceded her in death July 10, 2009. Also deceased is a sister, Kathryn Frailey.

A graveside service will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. in Bellville Cemetery. Pastor Jim Berry will officiate.
