MOUNT VERNON — John F. Barton, 57, of Mount Vernon, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 12, 2012, as a result of injuries he sustained in a tractor accident.

He was born June 10, 1955, in Mount Vernon and was the son of the late John Fred and Retha (Fish) Barton. John enjoyed the outdoors, gardening and fixing up and painting old tractors.

He is survived by his three sisters, Peggy (John) Curtis of Mount Vernon; Connie (Rick) Gaumer of Gambier; Susie Griffith of Reynoldsburg; nieces, Lee (Tyler) Hitzfield; and Mary Ann (Bill) Foster; nephews, Richie Gaumer and John Curtis; a great-nephew, Andrew Long; a great-niece, Adriana Long; aunt and uncle, Ruth (Chuck) Doup of Butler; and his dog Kipper.

Friends may call Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. Graveside funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in St. Johns Cemetery.
