CENTERBURG — Zelda Salyer, 99, of Centerburg, died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012, at home.
She was born in Lawerence County, Ky., Feb. 23, 1913, to Gracie Prince and Leonard Goins. She was a charter member of the Heart of Ohio Women’s Association, a licensed practical nurse, and the co-owner of Salyer Nursing Home.
She is survived by three granddaughters, Sherry (Fred) Altizer, Cindy (Kurt) Williams and Angie (Chuck) Hatcher, all of Centerburg; six great-grandchildren, Zane, Graham and Abby Altizer and Chase, Hayden and Alayna Hatcher; as well as her sister, Ramie McConnell of Huntsville, Ala.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jay; her children, Marie, Charles, Lowell and Frances; two grandchildren, Johnathan Paul and Charles E. II; her parents; and several brothers and sisters.
A graveside service and interment will be held at Yatesville Cemetery, Louisa, Ky., on Sunday.
Arrangements were handled by Johnson-Melick-Moreland Funeral Home, Centerburg.
