LEBANON, Va. — Robert W. “Bob” Haywood Sr., 60, of Lebanon, Va., formerly of Mount Vernon, went to be with the Lord Aug. 15, 2012, after a long battle of cancer.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Haywood; stepfather, Melton Hunter; sister, Mary Ellen Dowalter; niece, Becky Haywood; grandmother, Elizabeth Looker; and canine companion, Bailey.
Survived by wife, Sharon Haywood; mother, Vera Haywood Hunter; three daughters, Lorie (Jeff) Artusi, Angela Haywood and Anita (Larry) Garrett; son, Robert (Michelle) Haywood Jr.; grandchildren, Amanda, Parker, Cory, Katy, Abbey, Logan, Crystal, Richard, Deena, Leeann, Hank and Maxwell. Also survived by Kate Bosey, Jim Haywood, Allen (Mary Joe) Haywood, Mark Haywood, Patricia Howard; special aunt and uncle, Don and Mary Haywood; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; longtime canine companions, Duke and Harley.
There will be no calling hours or funeral, per Robert’s request to be cremated.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made at First Bank and Trust, Lebanon, VA 24266 for Sharon Haywood for Robert Haywood Sr.’s cremation expenses.

MOUNT VERNON — Ruth Johnson, 91, of Mount Vernon, passed away Monday, Aug. 27, 2012. at the Ohio Eastern Star Home after a short illness.
She was born Nov. 23, 1920, in Mount Vernon, and was the daughter of the late Harry O. and Grace (Hoagland) Zimmerman. Ruth loved to sit on her patio and watch the hummingbirds at the feeder and the birds in her birdbath. She enjoyed doing her crossword puzzles and making things out of plastic canvas to give to her relatives. Ruth will be sadly missed.
Ruth is survived by her two nephews, Terry (fiancée Kay) Zimmerman of Mount Vernon and Harry Zimmerman of Michigan; a niece, Margaret Williams of Byran; cousin, Harold Hoagland of Mount Vernon; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elton Johnson, whom she married June 28, 1942; a sister, Dorothy M. Zimmerman; brother, Roy Zimmerman; and a nephew, Fred Zimmerman.
Private family graveside services will be held in Ebenezer Cemetery. The Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home in Mount Vernon is handling the funeral services for the Johnson family.
Memorial contributions may be made in Ruth’s name to Knox County Humane Society, 400 Columbus Road, Mount Vernon, OH 43050.
