ASHLAND — Dr. Martha Topp-Radabaugh, 86, of Ashland, died Friday, Aug. 31, 2012.

She was born in Mount Vernon, on Oct. 2, 1925, the daughter of Archibald Augustus and Verne Elma (Snare) Topp. In the early 1960s, Mrs. Radabaugh had started the first trainable program school in Mount Vernon. She had written behavioral programs for the Apple Creek Developmental Center. Later she was a professor for Ashland University where she taught special education for over 20 years before retiring in 1988; while at Ashland University she was co-author of Curriculum and Methods for Mentally Handicapped. Mrs. Radabaugh was a member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church. She enjoyed knitting, crochet, basket weaving, reading along with caning chairs. Martha was a devoted mother and brilliant woman who dedicated her life for the betterment of people with special needs. She also had a special love for her dogs.

Survivors include her daughter, Julia (J. William) Glasser of Ashland; her son, Jeff (Terry) Radabaugh of Wooster; her daughter-in-law, Connie Radabaugh of Newark; her five grandchildren, Allison Renee, Amy Marie, Adarian James, Julia Ann Marie, Abby Mae; three stepgrandchildren; along with her five great-grandchildren.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eugene Edward Radabaugh; son, Judge Michael Eugene Radabaugh; and her brother, Keith Eldon Topp.

At Martha’s request there will be no services. Heyl Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1050 Dauch Drive, Ashland, OH 44805; the Ashland County Cancer Association, 380 E.
