UTICA — Richard Eldon Parkinson, 86, of Utica, passed away Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012, at Knox Community Hospital.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Kauber-Sammons Funeral Home, 289 S. Main S., Pataskala, with burial in Pataskala Cemetery, with Pastor Calvin Alexander officiating.
Mr. Parkinson was born Jan. 7, 1926, in Licking County, to the late Albert and Marie (Irwin) Parkinson. He was a lifelong avid farmer in Licking and Knox counties, member of the U.S. Army during World War II, he fought in the Battle of the Bulge and was decorated with a Purple Heart.
Survived by three daughters and two sons, Pamela Parkinson of Pataskala, Daniel (Vicki) Parkinson of Granville, Annette Wilkin of Utica, Vance (Shirley) Parkinson of Utica, Fran (Bruce) Conard of Utica; brother, Harold Parkinson of Utica, half sister, Jean Ann (David) Goss of Granville; 12 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his wife, Charity Ann (Rhodeback) Parkinson; daughter, Janine Parkinson; brother, Nelson Parkinson; son-in-law, Roger Wilkin.
Family will receive friends Friday at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Richard to the Utica EMT Squad, 22 Spring St., Utica, OH 43080; or to the donor’s choice.
