HOWARD — Herbert “Jerry” Baugher, 76, of Coshocton Road, Howard, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012, at Knox Community Hospital, Mount Vernon. He was born Dec. 14, 1935, in Brinkhaven, to the late Ed and Naomi (Mowery) Baugher.

Jerry was a 1953 graduate of Howard High School and graduated a year later from Andrews Barber College. He owned and operated Jerry’s Barber Shop on West High Street in Mount Vernon since 1956. Jerry was instrumental in developing the Howard youth baseball league in 1966. He attended the Millwood Presbyterian Church and the Howard United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen (Mullet) Baugher; whom he married on March 5, 1957; two sons, Randy (Shari) Baugher of Mount Vernon, and Steve (Teresa) Baugher of Mount Vernon; a daughter, Karen (Scott) Bell of Howard; five grandchildren, Kyle (Cherish) Bell, Courtney Baugher, Aaron Baugher, Haley Baugher and Matthew Baugher, two great-grandchildren, Kymber and Elias Bell; three sisters, Beverly (Gene) Evans of Mount Vernon, Nancy (James) Wears of Mount Vernon, Shirley (Robert) Frazier of Fredericktown; and a sister-in-law, JoAnn Baugher of Fredericktown.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Robert Baugher.

Friends may call Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon, where a funeral service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. Pastor Tom Orr and Pastor Lee Cubie will be officiating. Entombment will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
