LOUDONVILLE — Teresa E. Bird Berna, 97, of Loudonville, died Saturday evening, Sept. 8, 2012, in Colonial Manor Health Care Center following a short illness.

Mrs. Berna was born Dec. 19, 1914, near Danville, and was the daughter of the late Frank Raphael and Anna Armetta (Blubaugh) Durbin. She was a 1933 graduate of Danville High School and was a Loudonville resident most of her life, living in Nashville, Ark., for 25 years before returning to the Mount Vernon area and later Loudonville area in 2003. Mrs. Berna was a licensed practical nurse at Kettering Hospital, Loudonville, retiring in 1978. She was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Loudonville, and had attended St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Mount Vernon. She loved playing bingo and was a former member of the Eagles Auxiliary of Nashville, Ark.

She is survived by a son, Francis “Eddie” (Cheryl) Bird of Loudonville; a daughter, Margaret Hamilton of Tennessee; eight grandchildren, Jean Cheuvront, Keith Bird, Donnell Bird, Leslie Easterday, Shannon Williams, LaTeresa Smith, Tony Smith and Randi Scott; three stepgrandchildren, Wendy Zody, Stacey Dilgard and Amy Pothorski; eight great-grandchildren; one stepgreat-grandchild; and a sister, Mary St.Hilaire of Grandview, Wash.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Glenn M. Bird in 1955; her second husband, Paul Berna in 1997; a brother, Paul Durbin; and two sisters, Veronica and Neva Durbin.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. Peter’s Catholic Church of Loudonville, with the Revs. Vincent Hawk and Homer Blubaugh officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Loudonville. Friends may call Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. in Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home, Loudonville, where a prayer service will begin at 7:45 p.m.
