MOUNT VERNON — Robert F. Thompson, 77, of Mount Vernon, passed away unexpectedly Monday, Sept. 17, 2012, at Knox Community Hospital.
He was born Jan. 6, 1935, in Newark, to the late Orville and Mabel (Owens) Thompson.
Robert was the former owner and operator of Thompson’s Bakery for more than 30 years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Dolores (Totman) Thompson; a son, Stanley (Laura) Thompson of France; son-in-law, Kevin Wright of Mount Vernon; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ron and Beth Totman and Roberta (Harold) Tomes, both of Mount Vernon; several nieces and nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by his daughter, LaVonne “Von” Thompson Wright; and his brother, Richard Thompson.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home, 212 N. Main St., Mount Vernon with Pastor Bill Fulda officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
