MOUNT VERNON — Charles D. “Chuck” Gamble, 65, of Old Delaware Road, Mount Vernon, passed away Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
He was born Jan. 28, 1947, in Mount Vernon, to the late Arthur and Doris (Talbott) Gamble. Chuck served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was proud of his country and loved his family.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl (Thomas) Gamble; a son, Mark (Angel) Gamble of Centerburg; two grandchildren, Adam and Braden Gamble; a brother, Steve (Michelle) Gamble of Fernley, Nev.; three sisters, Kathy (Doug) Morrison of Mount Vernon, Nancy (Jamey) Popham of Mount Vernon and Linda (Jerry) Grosswiler of Collins; mother-in-law, Roxie Thomas of Mount Vernon; brother and sister-in-law, Lydia (Mark) Peakovic of Mount Vernon, Glenn Thomas of Newark; dearly loved nieces and nephews; and the mother of his sons, Kathy Gamble.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Joel Gamble; a brother, Gary Gamble Sr.; and a brother-in-law, Ron Thomas.
A memorial service, with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans, will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. at 229 Crystal Ave., Mount Vernon. Pastor Bill Fulda will be officiating. The Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home of Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of Charles D. “Chuck” Gamble.
