WALHONDING — Willard R. Dickerson, 52, of Walhonding passed away Sept. 25, 2012, after a 12-year battle with illness.
He was born Feb. 1, 1960, in Mount Vernon to Gilbert O. and May (Morningstar) Dickerson.
He was a member of the National Wildlife Turkey Federation and Pheasants Forever. He was an avid turkey, deer and mushroom hunter. He retired from TRW after 25 years and had also worked on the family orchard (Farmers Orchard) for many years.
Willard is survived by his wife, of 28 years Mary Beth (Strong) Dickerson; daughter Misty (Scott) Burwell of Bladensburg; son, Dustin (Amy) Dickerson of Warsaw; four grandchildren, Scotty, Mikey and Maria Burwell and Raelynn Dickerson; father and step-mother, Gilbert (Mary) Dickerson of Mount Vernon; brother, Chris (Connie) Dickerson of Fredericktown; sister-in-law, Lois Dickerson of Fredericktown; and several nieces; nephews; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Marice Burwell; mother, May Dickerson; brother, Gilbert O. “Junior” Dickerson Jr.; father and mother-in-law, John T. and Anne Strong Sr.; and brother-in-law, Danny Strong.
Friends may call at the Bladensburg Church of Christ Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m., where funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m., with Evangelist Dave Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Woods Church Cemetery. The Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home in Bladensburg is handling the funeral arrangements for the Dickerson family.
