MOUNT VERNON — Edith “Polly” Keyes, 73, of Mount Vernon, passed away Friday afternoon, Sept. 28, 2012, at MedCentral in Mansfield.

She was born Feb. 5, 1939, in Mount Vernon, daughter of the late William and Edith (Gearhart) McQueen. Polly enjoyed playing cards, gardening, and especially spending time with her grandkids. She was a member of The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Polly will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Polly is survived by her children, Tommy G. (Shyla) Keyes Jr. of Mount Vernon, Tammy (William) Butler of Fredericktown and Tommy Eugene Keyes of Zanesville; grandchildren, Rebekah Keyes, Tommy M. Keyes, Corey Keyes, Savannah Keyes, Courtney Henry, Bryanne Newell, Thomas Keyes, Jordan Keyes, and Nicole Keyes; great-grandchildren, Kennedy Drake, Gavyn Wade-Keyes, Trace Henry, Taryn Henry, Kendell Poole, Kameron Poole, Keely Poole and Easton Newell; sister, Martha (Jim) Yeager of Mount Vernon; and her canine companion, Axle.

In addition to her parents, Polly was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy G. Keyes Sr.; brothers, Samuel, David, Joseph, James, John, William and Isaac McQueen; sisters, Pearl Parkinson and Ruth Blubaugh; half brothers, Paul, Willis, Frederick, Kenneth and Carroll “Rusty” McQueen; and her canine companion for many years, Honey Girl.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, with Pastor Whitt Akers officiating. Burial will follow in the North Fork Cemetery near Waterford.
