UTICA — A funeral service for Clydia L. Short, 88, of Utica, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Law-Baker Funeral Home, with Pastor Sharon VanWinkle officiating. Burial will follow in Owl Creek Cemetery.

Clydia died Sept. 30, 2012, at Emeritus at HillenVale, Mount Vernon. She was born Sept. 2, 1924, in Dry Ridge, Ky., to the late William H. and Lura (Carter) Kemper.

Clydia was a member of Owl Creek Baptist Church and belonged to their Missionary Group. She had a wonderful life and her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life and she loved flowers.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, James Denver Lee Short of Pataskala, Gary R. and Velma Short of Brinkhaven, Lonnie E. and Josie Short of Johnstown; daughter, Loretta S. Sibley of Topping, Va.; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John M. Short, who passed away Dec. 31, 2006; and brother, Monroe Webb.

Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Law-Baker Funeral Home, 34 N Main St., Utica. Visit to extend condolences to the family.
