MOUNT VERNON — Patricia L. Hobbins, 83, of Mount Vernon, passed away Oct.1, 2012, at Country Club Nursing Home.

Born July 30, 1929, in Marion, to the late Roy and Katherine (Morey) Dearing, she graduated from Marion Harding High School in 1944.

Pat was a gifted singer who performed regularly with her husband in professional venues around the eastern half of the US including five years with the Pittsburgh, Pa. Opera Company. She started her musical career at 15 as a featured singer on a weekly radio program at WRFD radio in Worthington. Most of her business career was as an office administrator with various law firms in Chicago, Cleveland, Pittsburgh and Charleston, S.C.

She is survived by her husband, James Hobbins and three children of a former marriage; Clifford Carroll Conklin III, Ph.D, Columbus, Cathy Conklin-Buriss of Calif. and Sue Conklin, D.C. of Ashley.

A special musical memorial service, scheduled for Oct. 19 at 3 p.m. will celebrate her life in Harcourt Parish Episcopal Church, Gambier.

The Dilley-Lasater Funeral Homes are assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions may be made in Patricia’s name to Smile Train or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. To express a condolence or share a memory with the Hobbins family, visit
