MOUNT VERNON — Rodney A. Wagner, 60, of Mount Vernon, passed away unexpectedly at his home Thursday evening, Oct. 4, 2012.
He was born in Mount Vernon on Nov. 12, 1951, the son of Roma R. (Graham) Wagner of Mount Vernon and the late Lyle P. Wagner.
Rod worked for TRW for over 25 years and most recently worked for PACS in Mount Vernon. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of the VFW, AMVETS and the Moose. Rod enjoyed playing golf, fishing, photography, woodworking, and traveling.
In addition to his mother, Rod is survived by a son, Nathan (Liz) Wagner of Tennessee; a daughter, Evone (James) Gillespie of Westerville; grandchildren, Michael Sharpe, Ethan and Austin Gillespie; a sister, Bonnie Litt of Mount Vernon; brothers, Jim (Becky) Wagner and Gary (Lori) Wagner both of Fredericktown; numerous nieces and nephews; and his former wife and mother of his children, Wendy Wagner of Mount Vernon.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council.
