MOUNT VERNON — Dr. James R. Leventry, DDS, 66, of Newark Road, Mount Vernon, passed away unexpectedly at his home Friday, Oct. 5, 2012.
He was born April 16, 1946, in Youngstown, to the late Lewis and Nancy (Baxter) Leventry. Dr. Leventry moved to the Mount Vernon area in 1972 and had his dental practice for over 40 years. He was a member of the Mount Zion Lodge 9 F&AM in Mount Vernon, Land of Legend Fly Tiers in Newark, past president of the Knox County Fish and Game, Ducks Unlimited, and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Dr. Leventry coached football for over 25 years at Utica High School.
He is survived by his wife of over 43 years, Susan (Dickey) Leventry; his daughter, Ellen (Thom) Devault of Newark; his son. Robert (Nicole) Leventry of Carver, Mass.; two grandchildren, Ryan and Maddison Leventry; and his brother, Jack (Peggy) Leventry of Bedford, Ohio.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Meyers.
Friends may call Tuesday at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. A Masonic service will follow beginning at 7 p.m. The funeral service will be held Wednesday at the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, beginning at 10 a.m., with the Revs. David Kendal-Sperry and Diane Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Mount Vernon.
