MOUNT VERNON — Walter Allen Scott, 90, of Mount Vernon, passed away Oct. 8, 2012.
He was born Jan. 8, 1922, in Utica, to Lester and Goldie (Bodle) Scott. He retired from Cooper Energy Services where he worked for 43 years. He was a World War II Army veteran, where he served in the Pacific with the 77th Division. He was a member of the American Legion for 38 years. He was also an avid bow hunter and fisherman.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Marilyn (Crawford) Scott; three daughters, Jerri Knapp of Fort Collins, Colo., Bonnie Scott of Newark, and Cheryl (David) Shanabrook of Mount Vernon; three grandchildren, Kevin Knapp, Ann Dee (Tim) Hagans and Brian (Lisa) Bower; two great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, John, James and Nathan; and three sisters, Tressie, Emma and Mary.
A graveside service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in Mound View Cemetery, with Pastor Bob Vennhius officiating. The Knox County Joint Veterans Council will provide military honors.
The Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home in Mount Vernon is handling the funeral arrangements for the Scott family.
