MOUNT VERNON — Harry Edward “Pinky” Jones, 86, of Rose Avenue, Mount Vernon, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, at the Ohio Eastern Star Home in Mount Vernon.
He was born Oct. 3, 1926, in Chicago, Ind., to the late Robert and Marie (Dempster) Jones. Pinky served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II in Okinawa. He retired after 30 years of employment with Pittsburgh Plate Glass. Pinky enjoyed spending time with his family, and visiting friends and neighbors on his front porch.
He is survived by his son, Robert Jones of Houston, Texas; a daughter, Jennett Frye of Mount Vernon; five grandchildren, Justin Jones, Brandon (Jami) Jones, Kristi Jones, Andrew Frye and Jenna (Kelly) Metz; four great-grandchildren, Lily Jones, Roman Jones, Alei Jones and Leia Jones.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Verga Esther Jones; two brothers, Robert Jones, Jacque Jones; two sisters, Kathryn Petrazates and Lyda “Toots” Hardesty.
The family will observe a private graveside service in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home of Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of Harry Edward “Pinky” Jones.
