FREDERICKTOWN — Ira “Bud” Price, 82, of South Bay Drive, Fredericktown, passed away Thursday, Oct., 18, 2012, at Select Specialty Hospital in Columbus.

He was born March 17, 1930, in Clinchco, Va., to the late Emmett and Fleecie (Counts) Price.

Bud served in the U.S. Army. He retired in 1996 after 43 years of employment with American National Can. He was a member of the Chester Baptist Church where he served as deacon, trustee and Sunday school secretary. Bud enjoyed playing in the Old Timers Softball league, woodworking and spending time in his vegetable garden. In 2008, Bud was honored as a “Hero” of the American Red Cross for his continuous giving to the community. Since recorded, Bud had donated over 43 gallons of blood. He was a proud graduate of Fredericktown High School. Bud was loved by many and will be sadly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret (Abraham) Price, whom he married on June 15, 1951; his children, Patricia (David) Robinson, Buddy (Patti Bower) Price, Carol (Dennis) McElroy and Robyn Price all of Fredericktown; seven grandchildren, Stefanie and Brian Robinson, Jarrod and Courtney Price, Jimm (Kerry) McElroy, Jessica Geladakis and Jeffrey (Emily Craft) McElroy; five great-grandchildren, Sarah, Patric, Ella, Coasta and Jac; three brothers, Mack Price of Mansfield, Emmett (Jean) Price of Wytheville, Va., Roger (Carolyn) Price of Lebanon, Tenn.; two sisters, Lillian Hay of Clintwood, Va., and Betty Hayes of Wytheville, Va.; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Julie Price; a brother, Jim Price; two sisters, Marilee Fendley and Sharon Mosher; and half-brothers, Walter Hay and John Hay.

Friends may call Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Fredericktown United Methodist Church where a funeral service will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. Pastor Chuck Wythe will be officiating. Burial with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council will follow in Forest Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Bud’s name may be made to the Chester Baptist Church.
