GALION — Roy H. Snow, 85, of Galion passed away on Thursday morning, Oct. 18, 2012, at Hospice of North Central Ohio in Ashland. He was born June 19, 1927, in Mount Vernon, son of the late Nobel and Florence (Hookway) Snow.
Roy served in the United States Army from 1946 to 1947. He drove truck many years for Frank Vanatta Trucking before retiring in 1984, from the Hewlett Packard Company. Roy enjoyed collecting old cars, trucks, horse collectibles and coins. He was a member of the Abundant Life Tabernacle Church in Ontario. Most important to Roy was the quality time he spent with his family and many friends.
He was survived by his wife, Leaffie (Yoders) Snow, whom he married on July 30, 1961; children, Connie (Dennis) Lind of Elizabeth, Colo., Kathy (Girard) Galetto of Lincoln Park, Mich., Roy H. Snow II of Mount Gilead, Thomas Snow of Boise, Idaho and James (Darla) Snow of Homer; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; brother and sisters, Noble (Agnes) Snow of Newark, Marjorie Carlin of Bellville, Nora Mae (Dale) Wilson of Fredericktown and Elaine Hillier of Fredericktown.
In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his children, Theodore, Bobby and Constance Snow; brothers, Harold, Lamont, Samuel and Hubert Snow; sisters, Nellie Snow and Beulah McCormick; grandson, Brian Conkle, two great grandchildren; two stepsons, Frank and Timothy Rector.
Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, where a funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery near Mount Vernon.
