FREDERICKTOWN — Frances Julia Umphryes, 88, of Fredericktown, passed away Oct. 27, 2012. at her home, surrounded by her family.
She was born Dec. 14, 1923, in Mount Vernon, to the late John James and Helena (Berg) Krempel. Frances was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
She is survived by her seven children, Lloyd P. Umphryes, Julia (Jimmie) Kelly, Kathlee (Richard) Snider, Tom Umphryes, Rose Susan Umphryes, Helen Mattie Umphryes and Shari Marie DeVinney, all of Fredericktown; four grandchildren, Darian (Tiffany) Kelly, Amy (Ben) Foster, Tom Wells and Katrina Wells; three great-grandchildren, Allison Foster, Garrett Kelly and Brady Kelly; two brothers, Lawrence Krempel of Newark and James Krempel of Wooster; a sister, Veronica Desze of Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd H. Umphryes; brothers, John and Leo Krempel; sisters, Margaret Chester, Mary Shaffer, Helen Mills and Agnes Hawkins.
Friends may call Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, where a prayer service will follow calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, with the Rev. Father Mark J. Hammond as celebrant. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
