BLADENSBURG — Helen M. Jewell, 88, of Bladensburg, passed away Nov. 2, 2012, at the Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus.
She was born April 5, 1924, in Jersey, to William and Mary (Hite) Coakley.
Helen was a member of the Bladensburg Church of Christ. She was a 65-year former member of Union Grange and WCTU. She helped start the Bladensburg Fire Department Lady’s Auxiliary. Helen was a member of the Monroe-Dan Emmett Grange and was a longtime community volunteer in the Bladensburg community.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary Jewell and Jane Pumphrey, both of Bladensburg; three grandchildren, Sherri (Mike) Moreland, Doug and Stacy Pumphrey; several great- and great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Warren R. Jewell; brothers, Bob and Bill Coakley; sisters, Rose Mary Kidd and Edna Van Winkle.
Friends may call Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Bladensburg Church of Christ, where funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m., with Mr. Stan Ratliff and Mr. Don Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Bladensburg Cemetery.
The Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home in Bladensburg is handling the funeral arrangements for the Jewell family.
