MOUNT VERNON — Naomi Gwendolyn (Powell) Rummel, 79, passed away Nov. 2, 2012.

She was born in Warfordsburg, Pa., and moved to Akron, Ohio, as a young adult in 1954. Most recently she had been a resident of Mount Vernon.

She is preceded in death by her ex-husband, Ray H. Rummel; and her husband, Willis E. Rummel Sr. She was the youngest of 11 children, Stanley, Estelle, Hilda “Vi,” Opal, Floyd, Louise, Henry, Carl, Donald and John, born to Harriet (Hepler) and Jacob Powell. All preceded her in death.

She will be direly missed by her daughter, Pamela Ruth, and granddaughters, Mary and Rebecca Ruth of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; and her friend, Charles Williams of Mount Vernon.

Naomi was a kind and generous person who loved the simple pleasures of life, like cooking and gardening. Before losing eyesight, she enjoyed crossword puzzles and loved to crochet; she gifted many an afghan to beloved family members. She adored her pets and all creatures great and small.

Our world will be bereft without her, but Heaven will be a bit brighter. Surely she is on a forever walk with Our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus.

The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon is assisting the family with arrangements.
