MOUNT VERNON — Merrill Shelton Riffle, 86, Mount Vernon, passed away Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, at Centerburg Pointe.
He was born Sept. 21, 1926, in Radcliff, Ohio, son of the late George Nicholas and Carrie Marie (Norton) Riffle. Merrill was a resident of Knox County for over 25 years and retired from Strawser Paving Co. with 30 years of faithful service. He was a member of the Church at Chapel Hill near Mount Vernon.
Merrill is survived by his wife, Nancy L. (Musgrave) Riffle; sons, Roger (Mary) Riffle of Columbus and Merrill Riffle of Grove City; daughters, Deanna (William) Milburn and Linda (Rodney) Barton of Columbus; stepsons, Jeff (Roxanna) Myers of Milton, Fla., Doug Myers of Warsaw, Greg (Marina) Myers of Centerburg and Tom (Anita) Myers of Columbus; 25 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Lou Haignere of Columbus.
In addition to his parents, Merrill was preceded in death by brothers, Kenneth, Gerald, Verlon and Elmer Riffle; and sisters, Martha Jane Chestnut, Dollie Collins and Anna Craig.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon, where a funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. Pastor Dan Whisner and the Rev. Dan Musgrave officiating. Burial will follow in Mound View Cemetery.
