MOUNT VERNON — Gilbert H. Wermeling, 92, of Mount Vernon, passed away Nov. 18, 2012.
He was a former resident of Bellevue, Ky., and a retired teacher from Elder High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. After retirement Mr. Wermeling worked for the Exodus Program ministering to inmates. He taught GED math to the inmates at the Campbell County Jail. He also was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Marine Corps. He was born Oct. 16, 1920, in Covington, Ky., to Albert Henry and Caroline (Mora) Wermeling.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Margaret (Hoffman) Wermeling.
Gilbert is survived by his daughter, Mary Ann Stevenson of Walhonding; sons, David Wermeling of Jenkintown, Pa., Joseph Wermeling of Madison, Wis., Frank Wermeling of Covington, Ky.; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his brother, George Wermeling of Covington, Ky.
Visitation will b Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Divine Mercy Parish, Bellevue. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am, Wednesday at the Divine Mercy Parish, Bellevue, Ky., with the Rev. Damian Hils, as celebrant.
