MOUNT VERNON — Paul Whitney Gorsuch, 77, of Beech Street, Mount Vernon, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, at his home.
He was born Feb. 13, 1935, in Gambier, to the late Ray Mathew and Elizabeth (Whitney) Gorsuch. Paul retired in 1997, after 35 years of employment with Cooper Energy Services, and most recently enjoyed working in maintenance for Hiawatha Senior Village.
Paul was a member of Mount Zion Lodge 9 F&AM and the Grove Church of Christ. In his younger years, Paul played on a traveling semi-pro basketball team with his brothers, Earl and Robert Gorsuch. He was an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and enjoyed numerous years coaching baseball in the Mount Vernon Babe Ruth.
He is survived by his children, Susan Adrian of Pickerington, Cheryl (Mike) Turpen of Fairfield, Calif., Paul Michael Gorsuch of Pickerington and Nancy (Herve) Masson of Lardy, France; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Earl (Peggy) Gorsuch of Gambier; two sisters, Lorena (Fred) Cornet of Mount Vernon, Rhonda (Bob) Doyle of Milliken, Colo.; nieces and nephews; and the mother of his children, Kathryn (Jennings) Gorsuch.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Gorsuch; and a sister, Jean Longfellow.
Mount Zion Lodge 9 F&AM will conduct a service Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, followed by a memorial service. The family will observe a private graveside service.
Memorial contributions in Paul’s name may be made to the Mount Vernon Baseball Association.
