MOUNT VERNON — Robert E. Yocum, 45, of Mount Vernon passed away Friday evening, Nov. 23, 2012, at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus.

He was born April 5, 1967, in Loudonville, son of Mearl Yocum and the late Shirley (Green) Yocum.

In his free time, Robert enjoyed putting models together, including several wooden ships, being part of Civil War Reenactments and going paintballing. Robert was also known for being a blacksmith.

Robert is survived by his wife, Kathy (Stiles) Yocum; stepdaughter, Kayla Reeves of Mount Vernon; father, Mearl (Louise) Yocum of Mount Vernon; brother, Jeff (Gloria) Yocum of Altoona, Fla.; sisters, Debbie (Mark) Tilmant of Mount Vernon; and Cathy Bostwick of Howard; and several nieces; and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, with Pastor Richard Prater officiating. Burial will follow in Mound View Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family to help with monument expense.
