HOWARD — John Charles McKinley II, 77, of Howard passed away Nov. 25, 2012, at the Knox Community Hospital with his loving family by his side.

He was born Aug. 4, 1935, in Portsmouth, to John Charles McKinley I and Ruth Irene (Marker) McKinley.

John was a U.S. Army veteran and served overseas. He retired from the Mount Vernon Developmental Center and was a life member of the VFW. He enjoyed bird watching and woodworking and spent countless hours watching the news and sports. He was the Number 1 Fan for the Cleveland Browns and always said, “There is always next year”.

John is survived by his wife, of 40 some years, Marianne (Gust) McKinley; four children, Peggi Ann (William) Harvilla of Howard; Laura (Mike) Larkin of Columbia Station; Dale Richard Kyle of Howard; and Steven John Kyle of New Philadelphia; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; and one on the way; one sister, Barbara Noonen of Mount Vernon; and special friends, Walt and Pat Seward of Mount Vernon; and Sherri Trice, adopted daughter of Utica.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two sons: John Charles McKinley III; and Patrick James McKinley.

John requested no services at this time. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
