BATON ROUGE, La. — Margaret A. “Peggy” Appleton, 78, Baton Rouge, La., formerly of Mount Vernon, passed away Monday afternoon, Nov. 26, 2012, at the Southeast Louisiana War Veterans Home, Reserve, La.
She was born June 5, 1934, in Mount Vernon, daughter of the late James and Marguerite (McHale) Blubaugh. Margaret retired from First-Knox National Bank with many years of faithful service. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Mount Vernon.
Margaret is survived by her sons, Jim Appleton of Grundy, Va., John Appleton of Baton Rouge, La., and Bob Appleton of Lee’s Summit, Mo.; daughter, Mary Margaret Appleton of Baton Rouge, La; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara Blankfort of Fairfield, Conn.; brother-in-law, Bill Appleton of St. Charles, Mo.; special cousin, Shirley Hillier of Mount Vernon; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Charles David Appleton.
The family will receive friends Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon, with a prayer service to follow the visitation.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, with the Rev. Father Mark J. Hammond as the Celebrant. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Mount Vernon.
