MOUNT VERNON — Margaret J. Clemens, 87, of Mount Vernon passed away at her home Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012.
She was born June 27, 1925, in Napoleon, daughter of the late Ernest and Friederike (Dierksheide) Arps.
Margaret and her late husband, Vincent, where dairy farmers for over 40 years and were active in the National Farmers Organization (NFO). She was an avid bowler for over 25 years and participated in the Senior League for the past 10 years. She enjoyed quilting and playing cards. Margaret was a faithful member of Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Mount Vernon for over 60 years.
She is survived by her daughters, Joyce (John) Levengood of Arizona, Marlene (Steve Brenot) Clemens of Mount Vernon, Joanne (Michael) McMahon of Louisville, Ky., M. Jane (Tony) Laymon-Kasper of Gambier; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Edwin (Norma) Arps of Napoleon.
In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent Clemens, and her son-in-law Joe Laymon.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon where a prayer service will follow the visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with Rev. Father Mark J. Hammond as the Celebrant. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Mount Vernon.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made, in Margaret’s name, to a charity of one’s choice.
