MOUNT VERNON — Raymond C. Horne Sr., 78, of Mount Vernon, died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at the Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon.

Raymond was born Jan. 29, 1934, in Bradshaw, W.Va., to James and Etta (McCoy) Horne. Raymond enjoyed hunting, gardening, anything to be outdoors, his family and especially his grandchildren.

Surviving are his son, Raymond C. (Connie) Horne Jr. of Howard; his daughters, Tonia Lukas and Linda (James) Purdy, both of Mount Vernon; five grandchildren, Renee (Brian) Henry, James Lukas, Natalie Purdy, Brian Purdy and Melissa (Jacob) Francis; nine great-grandchildren; his brother, Gary Horne; sisters, Eunice Kendall, Inice McGaha, Janice Zikakis, Gwen Slater and Hope Horne; and his sister-in-law, Brenda (Mike) Kiser. Besides his parents Raymond was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Horne; and brothers, James “J.C.” Horne, Buford Horne, Keith Horne and Dean Horne.

A funeral service will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday two hours before the funeral service. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
