BELLVILLE — Sandra Burson Porter, 72, of Bellville, passed away Thursday evening Dec. 6, 2012, in Hospice of North Central Ohio in Ashland from pancreatic cancer, which was diagnosed in early October.
Born June 3, 1940, in Mount Vernon, to William Roscoe and Lela (Hampton) Burson.
She was a lifelong resident of Knox, Ashland and Richland Counties. Sandra had worked nearly ten years at Mansfield Plumbing Products in Perrysville before taking a position working on the presses at General Motors. She enjoyed crafting, sewing, quilting and making the world’s best creamy chocolate fudge. She will be remembered for her caring heart and giggling laughter.
Her surviving family includes her daughters, and a son-in-law, Jody and Ben Bolen of Ashland; Shelli Tammer of Lexington; a son, Scott Morton of Bellville; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Donald “Sonny” and Roberta Burson; Ann Jordan of Bellville; Vicky Richards and Jenny and Jim DeBoard of Mt. Vernon; Biff and Susan Smithhisler of Columbus; numerous nieces; and nephews; a dear cousin and sewing-buddy, Retha Baughman of Akron.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son; and a brother. William Tom Burson.
Her memorial service will be held Monday, at 4 p.m. in the chapel of Berean Baptist Church, 2145 Middle Bellville Road, Mansfield, with Pastor Jim Berry officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service in the church chapel.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio or the American Cancer Society at the memorial service.
